YETI MT T-SERIES XO/ Eagle 90 - Turquoise / S is available for pre-order from the next drop.

Description

The mechanical ideal. Available October 2026.

There's a particular kind of disappointment that arrives about four months into owning a new bike. Not with the frame — with the spec. The fork you'll upgrade. The brakes you've started to notice on long descents. The tyres that came off in the first week. The build was a starting point, and nobody said so at the time.

Like the XO, this Eagle 90/ XO blend isn't a starting point.

Underneath it is TURQ Series carbon — Yeti's top-tier layup, with Vectran fibre woven in where impacts land. Sixfinity™ drives 140mm of rear travel through a true six-bar linkage with a switching link, and the leverage rate is adjustable, so the bike can be tuned to how you actually ride rather than how a kinematics chart says you should. There's a storage cavity in the down tube behind a CNC-machined roller-cam door, and a moulded location for an AirTag, which tells you something about how Yeti expects these to be lived with.

The geometry is trail-bike numbers with the confidence turned up: 64.5° head angle across every size, 77° effective seat angle to keep you over the pedals on long climbs, a 342mm bottom bracket, and rear centres that grow with the frame — 436mm on the small through to 452mm on the XL, so a tall rider gets the same balance a small one does instead of inheriting a bike that wheelies away from them.

Then look at where the money went. A Fox Factory 36 with GRIP X2 at 160mm — twenty millimetres more than the rear, which is Yeti telling you plainly what they expect you to point this at. Maven Silver brakes on 200/180mm HS2 rotors: that is enduro-grade stopping power specified onto a trail bike, and after one long alpine descent you'll understand it as generosity rather than excess. Schwalbe Albert and Romy in Trail Pro radial casings, ultra soft front, soft rear — a tyre choice made entirely about grip, with no apology offered to rolling resistance.

The drivetrain is SRAM's mechanical Transmission — Eagle 90 shifter and derailleur, mounted hangerless through the axle so it shifts under full load and survives strikes that end a conventional mech, with X0 cranks, cassette and chain where the wear happens. No batteries. No charging. Nothing to remember.

And the wheels are DT Swiss M1900 alloy, which is the most honest decision on the whole bike. Aluminium rims on a bike you'll ride through a British winter, in rocks, at speed — replaceable for the price of a good dinner rather than a mortgage payment. The budget went into the parts that change how the bike rides. That's the right way round. If you really want to upgrade - either look at the XO model or you won't feel it too much and have a great spare wheel set for the mud tyres.

Yeti carbon bar. Burgtec stem. Size-specific dropper — 150mm on the small, 200mm on the large and XL.

Nothing on it to upgrade. Nothing on it to apologise for.

Believe it or don't. Go fast and see.

90/X0 OR X0 AXS?

Same frame. Same suspension. Same fork, same brakes, same intent.

The difference is a cable and a battery. Eagle 90 is SRAM's mechanical Transmission — identical hangerless full-mount architecture to the AXS groups, shifts under load in the same way, sets up without limit screws or B-gap, and never needs charging. X0 AXS is the wireless version, with the crisper shift and the app.

If you like the idea of a bike that works in February without you having thought about it since October, this is the one. If you'd rather never touch a gear cable again, take the AXS.

Neither choice affects how the bike rides. It's a preference, not a hierarchy.

WHO TAKES THIS BUILD

  • Riders who've learned that fork, brakes and tyres decide how a bike feels — and that wheels get replaced regardless and they like the mechanical click.
  • Long days with real climbing, where a 77° seat angle and 140mm of efficient travel earn their keep before the descent does
  • Anyone riding through a UK winter who'd like their shifting to work in March as well as it did in September.
  • Alpine trips on a bike you can still enjoy at home — 160mm fork, Maven brakes, ultra soft front tyre
  • One-bike households who want the argument settled at purchase

ROVIKA NOTE

We look at a lot of build kits, and most premium bikes at this price have a tell — a component chosen so the spec sheet reads well rather than because it's the right part. This one doesn't have one.

Money is in the fork, the brakes and the tyres. The wheels are alloy because alloy is what survives Surrey flint and Lakeland rock and costs sensible money to replace. The drivetrain is mechanical because a cable doesn't care that it's been raining since November. And the frame is TURQ carbon with the storage door and the AirTag mount, which is Yeti quietly acknowledging that people lock these to things.

The MT itself is the bike a lot of our customers should have been on for years — 140mm and a 64.5° head angle covers a genuinely enormous amount of British riding, and Sixfinity means you give up much less on the way down than the number suggests.

Demo stock in this build. One run tends to settle it.

Trusted gear. Tested where it counts.
