There's a moment on every good descent where the trail stops being a sequence of obstacles and becomes a single line. Most bikes get you there eventually. The MT starts there.

At its centre sits Sixfinity™ — a true six-bar linkage with a switching link, ten years in development and proven at the sharp end of the world stage. Early in the travel the switch link rises, holding anti-squat high around sag, so the bike sits up and drives forward under power rather than sinking into it. Deeper in, the timing link reverses the switch link's direction. Anti-squat falls away, the linkage goes quiet, and the bike stops arguing with the ground.

Which is the polite way of saying the number on the page is a red herring. 145mm of rear travel that behaves like considerably more when the ground turns against you, and considerably less when the trail asks you to work for it. Riders arriving from long travel find it far harder to overwhelm than the spec suggests. Riders arriving from short travel find they've stopped choosing their lines quite so carefully. Both take a run or two to recalibrate. Neither goes back.

It is not a small enduro bike and it isn't a brave trail bike. It's the bike you reach for when the day contains 1,200 metres of climbing and the descent you tell people about — and you'd rather not compromise either end.

MT OR LT?

Same suspension design. Different appetite.

The LT is the flagship enduro bike — 170mm front, 160mm rear, the successor to the SB160. Long rear centres, a bias toward stability, and the composure to make a race stage feel shorter than it is. Around 15.8kg in its X0 build. It rewards a rider who wants the bike to keep going long after they've stopped being tidy.

The MT is the one you'll ride more often. Shorter travel, lighter, quicker to change direction, and far more willing on the climb — but running the same switching link, so it doesn't give away composure to get there. Where the LT flattens terrain, the MT reads it.

Rule of thumb: if you're buying a bike for the six days a year you go to the Alps, buy the LT. If you're buying a bike for the other three hundred and fifty-nine — and you'd still like those six to go well — buy the MT.

• The rider currently on a 160/170mm enduro bike who has quietly admitted it's too much bike for the trails they actually ride

WHY WE STOCK IT — A ROVIKA Field Note

We're in Guildford. Which means our home trails are the Surrey Hills: short, steep, rooted, greasy from October to March, and utterly unforgiving of a bike that only comes alive above 40kph. We watch a lot of very good riders drag 170mm enduro bikes up Barry Knows Best because that's what the internet told them fast looks like.

The MT is the correction. It's the bike that makes a 90-second descent feel like a race run and a two-hour loop feel like a ride rather than a transfer stage. It climbs like it wants to be there. It holds a line through wet roots the way bikes with far more travel do. And it does all of it on the same platform Yeti has spent a decade proving at World Cup level.

We don't range bikes we wouldn't ride ourselves. This one we're planning demo stock of, because it's the sort of bike that needs one run to make its argument and doesn't need a second.

Under £749 value:

Direct & insured shipping in 3 step ready-to-ride condition with DHL to your nominated address. Pre shipping assembly and inspection is performed by our team. All you need to do is rotate the bars, insert front wheel and fit one of the pedals - all required tools are provided.

Over £750 value:

Option A: ROVIKA home (or office!) delivery by our team with complimentary bike setup session (inc suspension tuning, seat height adjustment, cockpit adjustments, shoe cleat fitting & bike accessories fitting). We can also bring accessories for you to try and add to the order if you are undecided - stock level permitting.

Option B: Delivery to your local ROVIKA Outpost for assembly, set-up and customisation with your local mechanic. Each Outpost receives a percentage profit share for each order they build.
